Thomas McClary - Revolution Not a Revival

From rocking souls to winning souls best describes Thomas McClary’s life story.

Once his goal was to rock the hearts of fans around the world with Motown and now his powerful new melodies and lyrics were written to win the souls and hearts to God with his recent CD entitled, “A Revolution Not A Revival.”

Beginning in a small town in Eustis, Florida, Thomas was destined to be a leader of influence. Unbeknownst to family, friends and even himself was what his life would entail. Thomas began making headlines, history and hits that have influenced our nation in many ways. As one of the first African American student to integrate the Florida school system before laws were established to abolish segregation, Thomas’s foundation of strength surfaced at an early age.

On the historical grounds of Tuskegee University, Thomas founded the original Commodores. The indomitable quality within his spirit that has continued to grow, propels him today just like it did in the early 70’s when he challenged his former colleagues, the Commodores, to believe that one day, the band would be hailed as the “Black Beatles” and the black Beatles they became.

After the first LP in 1974, entitled “Machine Gun”, the group broke the Beatles attendance record at the Arenetta Coliseum, in Manilla, Phillipines, drawing over 274,000 screaming fans. This was just the beginning of a string of hits, selling over 120 million units and counting with such songs as “Easy,” “Brickhouse,” “Lady You Bring Me Up,” still receiving much radio air play today, thirty years later.

From the influence and moldings of Tuskegee University, the powerful inspiration of Motown and with the calling on his life, Thomas’s story evolves to the next phase.

As co-writer of the classic song “Brickhouse”, Mr. Brickhouse, Thomas McClary, invites you to wrap your ears and soul around a musical place uncharted in “A Revolution Not A Revival” as he navigates us on a journey blending Pop, R&B, Hip Hop, Reggae and Rock with inspirational messages that will appeal to all ethnic groups from ages eight to eighty.

What make this project even more intriguing is the collaboration of Thomas and his thirteen year old son, Ryan McClary who is a song writer, producer and arranger as well. The chemistry is phenomenally illustrated on the Hip Hop Hit entitled “Put Em In The Sky”. As fate would have it, thirteen was also the age that Thomas made his musical debut with his first Band in junior high school, The Matadors. The family collaboration expands as Ryan pens another Hit from “A Revolution Not A Revival” in which his twin sisters, Maya and Mariah, (7) Ashley, (18) Jazmyne, (22) and his two brothers, Brandon, (12) and Gabriel (11) joins him in a fun song entitled “Head To Toe”. This song is destined to top the charts.

Thomas currently resides in Orlando, Florida. From 2000 to January, 2007, he served as Director of Music in his local church of 6,000 members. With the support of his wife Beryl, and seven children, he will spread the message of love in hopes of reaching those who need it most.

McClary is committed to the needs of his community and society at large. As founder of The Thomas McClary Foundation, he is building a movement that empowers everyday people to become global agents of change. By teaching people to sow seeds of goodwill, the movement is creating a buzz locally, nationally and globally. Thomas McClary’s Foundation will target people who have dreams and vision of being entrepreneurs but don’t know how to go about making their dreams a reality. Coming January, 2008.
